6th June 2019– The Istituto Grandi Marchi is the result of the determination and enthusiasm of 19 of the most important and prestigious italian wineries to promote the culture and commercialization of Italian high-quality wine worldwide. Formed out of an informal meeting between like-minded colleagues and friends, the founders of Grandi Marchi recognized that by joining forces, they could better promote and enhance the great wines of Italy.
Today, they’ve transcended their individual aims to achieve a common goal and, thanks to their efforts, they express a turnover of 560 million euros (5.6% of the total turnover of Italian wine in 2017) and a value of sales abroad equal to 6% of the entire Italian wine export. Italy’s best wines have both stronger positions in established markets and promising foundations in emerging ones. The promotes the country’s best bottles and producers on a global scale.

“This year we have chosen Hong Kong for our most important annual tasting- explains Piero Mastroberardino, the Institute’s President – with the aim of presenting, through our direct presence and our activity, the culture of quality that characterizes Italian wine on a market, the Chinese one, which is rapidly evolving. It is important for us to be in Hong Kong because it remains one of the most important financial and luxury goods trade center in Asia and regarding wine an important and reference logistic hub for most of Asia. Each one of our producers will be personally present and showcase their wines at the tasting.”
The event will be held on Thursday 6 June at the prestigious Hotel Four Seasons in the businness district of the metropolis. The program includes a Masterclass led by Jeannie Cho Lee, Korean-American wine critic, author, journalist, consultant, wine educator and MW, the first ethnic Asian to achieve this accreditation, followed by a Walkaround Tasting reserved to the professional trade and press. A very busy day and a unique opportunity to discover and deepen knowledge of the quality wine production of our country and engage directly with the producers who will be all attending the event.
