Rivera
THE FINE WINES OF PUGLIA
The de Corato family traces back its agricultural origins in the Andria area of central Apulia, where the Murgia hills decline gently towards the sea. Here in the early Fifties Sebastiano founded the Rivera winery with the specific goal of developing the significant winemaking potential of the Castel del Monte area. Since then, Rivera’s ceaseless striving for quality and its tenacious activity in promoting its wines in international markets have made this winery one of the driving forces behind the renaissance of Apulian winemaking quality and image.
Rivera owns 85 hectares of estate vineyards located partly on deep tufaceous soils at elevations of 160-180 meters and partly on rocky hills at 320-350 meters. They are planted to indigenous varieties such as bombino nero, nero di Troia, aglianico and montepulciano, flanked by international varieties such as chardonnay and sauvignon blanc.
This provides a solid base for a production deeply rooted in the local traditions and at the same carefully attuned to developments in international taste. Now in its third generation, the de Corato family is renewing its efforts to improve the quality and character of its wines, in tribute to their native Apulia, that land of rich colours and intense flavours.
